Rally Campus Chats (“Rally,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, how we use and share it, and your choices. It applies to U.S. residents aged 18+ and is intended for use within the United States.
1) Information We May Collect
• Account Info. Phone number or email, username, password, optional profile details (photo, display name), and age confirmation.
• Messages & Events. Message content and metadata (sender, recipients, timestamps), event details (title, time/date, location, description, RSVPs, comments, media). Rally stores messages and event data to deliver the service across devices.
• Contacts (optional). If you allow, we may access contacts to help you find friends. Where feasible, we hash and compare to our user base. You can disable this anytime.
• Device/Usage. Device identifiers, IP address, OS, app version, telemetry and diagnostics (including crash logs), and usage data; push tokens for notifications.
• Location (limited). Coarse location or place hints (e.g., to show nearby events) if you grant permission.
• Support & Feedback. Information you provide when contacting us (including screenshots/attachments, if any).
Sources of Personal Information
We collect information directly from you, automatically from your device, and from optional integrations you enable (e.g., contacts). If we add “Sign in with Apple,” we may receive your display name and an email alias for account setup.
Permissions We Use (iOS)
• Camera & Photos (optional): add event photos or profile images.
• Microphone (optional): only if voice features are added; otherwise unused.
• Contacts (optional): friend discovery; can be disabled anytime.
• Location (coarse) (optional): nearby events/campus relevance.
You can change app permissions in iOS Settings at any time.
Tracking Technologies
We use necessary and analytics technologies (e.g., device identifiers, app telemetry, crash logs) to operate, secure, and improve Rally. We do not use cross-context behavioral advertising.
If we ever implement “tracking” across other companies’ apps or websites for advertising or measurement, we will do so only where permitted and (on iOS) only if you choose to allow it.
2) How We Use Information• Provide, operate, and maintain messaging and event features.
• Authenticate and secure accounts; prevent spam/abuse.
• Send transactional/service communications (e.g., verification codes, security alerts, critical updates).
• Improve reliability, performance, safety, and features (analytics/diagnostics).
• Enforce our Terms and comply with law and legal process.
• Moderation & Safety Review. We may review content (including user reports and related metadata) to investigate abuse, enforce our Terms, and protect users and the public.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not use message content for advertising.
Aggregated & De-identified Data
We may create/use aggregated and/or de-identified information for analytics, safety, and service improvement. We do not attempt to re-identify de-identified data, and we expect our service providers to follow the same approach and applicable requirements.
3) How We Share Information
• Service Providers. Vendors helping deliver the service (e.g., cloud hosting, SMS gateways, analytics). They may use data only to provide services to us and must protect it.
• Event Participants. Event info is visible to invited participants; hosts see invitees/RSVPs and may share contact details they choose to share.
• Legal/Safety. To comply with law; to protect Rally, users, or the public; or to prevent fraud, security, or technical issues.
• Business Transfers. If we undergo a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, information may transfer with the business.
Law-Enforcement Requests
We respond to valid legal process and emergency disclosure requests where we reasonably believe there is risk of serious harm. Requests should be directed to contact@rallycampuschats.com. We may notify users unless legally prohibited or where notification could cause harm.
4) Your Choices & Rights
• Account Controls. View/edit/delete profile info in settings. You can delete messages and events you created (some copies may persist briefly in backups, and recipients may retain copies).
• Push Notifications. Control push notifications in your device settings or in-app. Turning them off may limit certain features.
• Marketing Choices. Unsubscribe from marketing emails via the link/instructions in the message; we process within 10 business days. For texts, reply STOP (or similar) to opt out; we honor within 10 business days and may send a one-time confirmation.
• Data Requests. Request access or deletion via in-app settings (where available) or by emailing contact@rallycampuschats.com. We’ll verify your request and respond consistent with applicable law.
5) Data Retention
We retain personal information as long as needed to operate the service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Deleted content may remain in backups for a limited period. We may keep aggregated or de-identified data for analytics.
6) Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures (encryption in transit, access controls, secure infrastructure). However, no system is 100% secure.
7) State Privacy Disclosures & Marketing Compliance
Some U.S. state privacy laws may apply depending on our activities and scale. Where required, we will provide additional disclosures and methods for exercising rights. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Security Incident / Breach Notice
If we become aware of a security incident affecting personal information, we will provide notices required by applicable U.S. breach-notification laws.
“Do Not Track” & Global Privacy Control
Some browsers send Do Not Track (DNT) signals; there is no common standard, so we do not respond to DNT. If we ever sell or share personal information, we will honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as required by law.
Marketing Laws (applies nationwide)
• Email (CAN-SPAM): marketing emails include a valid physical mailing address and a clear unsubscribe mechanism; opt-outs honored within 10 business days.
• Texts (TCPA/FCC rules): promotional texts only with prior express consent; you may revoke consent by any reasonable method (e.g., replying STOP).
8) Children
Rally is for 18+. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor is using Rally, contact us and we will delete the account/data.
9) Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy and will change the “Last Updated” date. Significant changes will be communicated in-app or on our website.
